Over the past weekend, 579 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 59 people were killed and 748 injured. 47 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on November 17 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 172 accidents involving pedestrians, nine people were killed, and another 165 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 22 young pedestrians, 15 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 77 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 95 outside their area of operation.

Over the past weekend, 68 accidents involving minors were registered. 79 young road users were injured in them, including 51 passengers and five motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.

31 bus accidents were recorded, in which three people were killed, and 60 more road users, including eight children, needed medical attention. 13 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

For example, in Chelyabinsk during the daytime, a 53-year-old city bus driver carrying 25 passengers suddenly became ill while driving, after which the uncontrolled vehicle overran the curb, drove off the roadway and crashed into a concrete bridge support. The bus driver and two passengers were hospitalized with injuries, and nine more passengers were treated on an outpatient basis.

In the Belgorod Region, early in the morning, on 153 km of the Belgorod — M-4 Don federal highway, a 53-year-old truck driver skidded a semi-trailer into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a bus carrying 7 employees of one of the region's enterprises to their workplace. After the impact, the bus left the roadway to the right and crashed into a tree. As a result of the accident, the driver and one passenger of the bus were killed, six passengers of the bus ended up in the hospital, having received injuries of varying severity.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists strictly observe traffic regulations and driving discipline. Truck drivers should correctly assess its dimensions and speed, weather conditions, condition and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding.

"We remind bus drivers that the life and health of passengers during transportation depends entirely on their skills, driving experience, well-being, law-abiding driving behavior, as well as the technical condition of the vehicle. You transport people and are responsible for them before the law while they are in the bus you control. Carefully monitor your health, do not overestimate your strength, and at the slightest sign of even mild malaise or fatigue, immediately consult a doctor before going on the line. Moreover, a pre—trip medical examination is mandatory for you," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

On November 1, it was reported that following the results of the first nine months of 2025, a decrease in road traffic accidents was recorded in the Russian Federation. The number of road accidents decreased by 2.4% (94.9 thousand cases), the number of dead — by 3.4% (10.1 thousand people), injured — by 3% (117.7 thousand people).
