Poland has opened two checkpoints on the border with Belarus.
The Polish authorities have resumed the work of two border crossing points with Belarus in Kuznitsa and Bobrovniki after a break. This was reported on November 17 by RMF24 radio.
"Podlaskie voivodeship has opened automobile border crossings with Belarus in Kuznica and Bobrovniki. The passage in the Forge was closed for four years, in Bobrovniki — for more than two and a half years," the article says.
According to the radio, the closure of border crossings in 2021 and 2023 led to "serious economic problems." According to local authorities, the closure of two points led to the collapse of business activity in the region.
According to RMF24, the Polish authorities have paid compensation, but only to businesses in municipalities where border crossings are located. However, companies throughout the region suffered losses.
On November 15, the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Belarus announced that Warsaw had notified Minsk of the upcoming opening of two border checkpoints on November 17. At the same time, the Belarusian customs department noted its readiness to resume traffic at the adjacent Bruzgi and Berestovitsa checkpoints.
On November 3, the State Customs Committee of Belarus reported that the queue at the border with Poland had increased sixfold due to the closure of the border with Belarus by the Lithuanian authorities. It was noted that the number of cars queuing exceeded 2,500.
