- The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded about the fine for driving with an invalid license
An expired or incorrect driver's license is equivalent to its absence. For driving a car with an invalid license, a fine in the amount of 5,000 to 15,000 rubles is threatened, the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation reported, TASS reported on November 17.
The violator is punished under Part 1 of Article 12.7 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. If such a violation is prevented, the car is delayed (according to Article 27.13 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation), and the driver is removed from his control (according to Article 27.12 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation).
The Interior Ministry recalled that in 2026, national driver's licenses, which expired from January 1 to December 31, 2023 and were automatically extended, will become invalid.
You will not need to take exams to replace the document. The driver will need a medical certificate stating that there are no medical contraindications to driving, a national passport, and (if available) a Russian national driver's license.
Earlier, on November 3, it was reported that a driver who refused, at the request of a traffic police inspector, to hand over his license without a cover for verification, could face administrative arrest for up to 15 days or a fine of 4 thousand rubles. It was clarified that in case of doubts about the authenticity of the documents, the policeman has the right to require the motorist to present an ID for verification, having previously removed it from the cover.
