The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation began using fiber-optic cable-controlled drones with a range of up to 50 km, which disrupted Ukrainian logistics. This was reported on November 13 by the Business Insider (BI) portal.

"The range of 50 km exceeds the capabilities of most known fiber—optic drones on the battlefield," the article says.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov, in an interview with BI, noted that such UAVs are immune to electronic warfare (EW) and pose a very significant threat to logistics and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). He also stressed that Kiev is already developing technologies to counter these drones.

Earlier, on September 14, The New York Times reported that Russia has made the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) a top priority and has revolutionized this field. The publication also noted that the sharp increase in the production of UAVs, combined with new technologies and tactics, creates enormous difficulties for Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 12 that thanks to drone operators, up to half of the Armed Forces' equipment is affected. The Russian army has accumulated good experience in the field of drones, and the effectiveness of their use is constantly growing, he added.
