The former head of the Ministry of Health of the Vladimir region was accused of abuse of authority.

Valery Yanin, the former Minister of Health of the Vladimir Region, was charged with abuse of office, which caused damage to the regional budget by more than 53 million rubles. This was reported on November 12 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

"A criminal case is being investigated against the former Minister of Health of the Vladimir region, Valery Yanin, on the grounds of a crime under paragraph "e" of part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of official authority committed out of self—interest")," the agency said in a statement.

According to the investigation, in the fall of 2024, Yanin, organizing the purchase of 42 anesthesia and respiratory devices for 13 medical institutions in the region, acted in the interests of a specific commercial company. In exchange for assistance in concluding the contract, he received expensive household appliances as a gift.

The investigators found that the equipment was purchased at an inflated price, which led to significant financial losses for the regional budget.

The court granted the request of the investigator of the Investigative Committee and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the defendant. It is specified that the investigators continue to study the seized documentation, interrogate witnesses and carry out a set of measures aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the illegal activities of the former official.

In addition, the investigation of another criminal case against Yanin was completed earlier. He is accused of exceeding his authority by illegally awarding bonuses to employees of the Alexandrovskaya District Hospital. The materials of this case have been sent to the court for consideration.

Earlier, on October 31, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened against the head of the Department of Land and Property Relations of the Derbent administration, who is suspected of abuse of office. It is specified that in 2023-2024, the defendant illegally distributed the lands of the municipality, including changing their area in the interests of others. As a result, the administration was damaged and the rights of citizens were violated.
