A group of soldiers from the 38th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) surrendered in Dimitrov, where the Ukrainian garrison was surrounded, it was reported on November 12.

According to Izvestia correspondent Alexander Safiulin, the unit was completely isolated without supplies, water and evacuation. Before deciding to lay down their weapons, the soldiers tried to break out of the encirclement using the remaining armored vehicles, but the attempt was stopped under the control of Russian units and FPV drones.

The plot shows footage of the surrender: soldiers come out with their hands up and take out the wounded. As noted, the situation in the area of Dimitrov and Krasnoarmeysk was deteriorating "literally by the hour."

"We literally ran out of provisions. No help, no ammunition. The evacuation was not carried out by our command. <...> We were alone... We have a lot of dead," said one of the prisoners.

According to him, the decision to surrender was "the only way to survive." In the war zone, leaflets with instructions on the possibility of laying down their weapons were regularly dropped to Ukrainian soldiers.

It is reported that the garrison commanders left the territory before the group surrendered. According to the correspondent's estimates, in such conditions, the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers choosing captivity may increase.

Earlier, on November 11, it was reported that Ukrainian serviceman Yevgeny Kiptily, who was captured in the area of Krasnoarmeysk, said that he found himself at the front after forced mobilization. He said that he had not been given the promised service in the rear, and there was no ammunition or water in the positions. According to him, the decision to surrender was the only way to save his life and return to his family.
