Ulyanovsk has started production of new SimAZ buses
Simbirsk Bus Plant (SimAZ) has launched serial production of a new low-floor model of the SimAZ-4282 bus in Ulyanovsk in two versions — medium and large classes. After reaching its design capacity, the company will be able to produce up to 1.5 thousand city and tourist buses, the press service of the Industrial Development Fund (EDF) reported on November 11.
Investments in the modernization of production exceeded 750 million rubles, of which 101 million rubles in the form of a concessional loan were allocated by the Federal Reserve Fund. The company has launched a new production line and a paint complex for serial production. The factory has localized the manufacture of bodies, glazing, exterior and interior elements, electrical equipment, digital instrument cluster, electronics, and more.
The SimAZ-4282 is equipped with a gas engine and uses natural gas (methane) as fuel, which is stored on board in a compressed state (CNG) in cylinders at a pressure of more than 200 atmospheres. The power reserve at one gas station is more than 400 km. The novelty is equipped with an electric retarder, which adds smoothness, and an automatic transmission.
The bus is designed for 72 passengers, 29 seats are provided. Large and medium-class cars differ in the size of the storage area at the middle entrance group with comparable passenger capacity. Andrey Lukyanov, the general director of the company, said that the Ulyanovsk bus has the most profitable cost of ownership in its segment due to low operating costs and the resource of the main components and assemblies of the bus up to 1 million km.
Earlier, on November 5, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported that the market volume in the bus segment in Russia for 10 months of 2025 amounted to 9587 units, a decrease of 42% compared to the same period last year.
