Religious figure Batlukhsky was detained in Moscow in a libel case.
Akhmad Batlukhsky, a religious figure from Dagestan, was detained at Moscow airport in a libel case. This was announced on November 8 by Shamil Khadulaev, Chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission of the Republic.
"According to the information received, the well—known Dagestani religious figure Akhmad Batlukhsky was detained at the airport in Moscow today," Khadulaev wrote on the Telegram channel.
He added that Batlukhsky had already been taken to Makhachkala for trial, and a criminal case had been opened against him under Part 5 of Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code ("Libel").
The detainee is known for his public statements about the Muftiate of the republic.
Earlier, on October 19, a court in Dagestan sent an eleventh-grader from the village of Khuchni to jail in a case of participation in the activities of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (IS, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). It was noted that the teenager communicated with an unidentified participant through TikTok.
