- Szijjarto announced that Hungarian MVM is negotiating with the United States on LNG supplies
The Hungarian State Energy Group (MVM) is discussing with its American partner a long-term contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This was announced on November 7 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"MVM is negotiating with an American company to conclude a five—year contract for the supply of only about two billion cubic meters of LNG," he said during a press conference broadcast on the YouTube channel of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
According to Szijjarto, a total of 400 million cubic meters per year will be supplied.
Earlier in the day, Orban announced that the United States had completely exempted Hungary from restrictive measures on Russian energy supplies via the Turkish Stream and the Druzhba pipeline. In addition, he added that Hungary has agreed with the American Westinghouse on the purchase of nuclear fuel.
