The activity of a powerful magnetic storm on Earth will last until November 7. This was announced on November 6 by Maria Abunina, head of the IZMIRAN Space Weather Forecasting Center.

It is specified that geomagnetic storms were triggered by coronal mass ejections that fly towards the Earth at high speed.

"A big magnetic storm has really started now, and there will be more tomorrow. Probably a little more powerful, because yesterday coronal mass ejections occurred on the Sun — two large, good, fast ejections, the arrival of which we expect tomorrow during the day," she said in an interview with kp.ru .

According to Abunina, tomorrow may bring an increase in geomagnetic activity exceeding today's figures. She recalled that serious geomagnetic disturbances can have an adverse effect not only on electronic devices, but also on human health.

On November 6, the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI and ISSF RAS) reported that strong magnetic storms of a planetary scale began on Earth on the night of November 6, and disturbances in the geomagnetic field reached the G2–G3 level. It is specified that at the moment their geomagnetic Kp index ranges from 6-7 points — from medium to strong levels.
