On the night of November 6, strong magnetic storms of a planetary scale began on Earth, the level of disturbances in the geomagnetic field reached the level of G2–G3. This was announced on November 6 by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI and ISSF RAS).

The beginning of the phenomena was registered around midnight in Moscow. Currently, their geomagnetic Kp index ranges from 6-7 points, from medium to strong levels.

"The disturbances were the result of plasma emissions that occurred in the Sun a few days ago. These events were not originally supposed to affect the Earth, but the emissions turned out to be directed towards the planet," the laboratory's website says.

Experts have found that plasma clouds propagate at a greater angle and at a higher speed than expected. Previously, the increased geomagnetic background will be observed for at least a day. The storms should enter the main phase on Friday, November 7, when the main masses of ejected plasma will reach the Earth and even stronger magnetic processes may begin.

On November 6, Anna Stadumova, a general practitioner and head of the therapeutic department of the NCC NCC No. 2 of the Russian National Research University named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky, told Izvestia that magnetic storms can exacerbate chronic diseases and worsen well-being in weakened or weather-sensitive people. According to her, science does not confirm a direct connection between a magnetic storm and specific diseases, for example, a heart attack. However, according to statistics, during the days of geomagnetic activity, there is indeed an increase in requests for medical help.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
