A record number of new foreign cars were imported to Russia in a month

In October 2025, 49.5 thousand new passenger cars were imported to Russia. This is the maximum number this year, according to the analytical agency "Autostat" on November 6. At the same time, compared to October last year, the volume of imports decreased by 56%.

Geely cars were most often imported to Russia in October, with the Geely Atlas crossover becoming the most imported model. Most often, new passenger cars were imported from China (65.5%), Kyrgyzstan (16.9%) and Kazakhstan (5.1%). The top five importing countries also included South Korea (4.6%) and Belarus (3.6%).

According to analysts, as a year ago (in October 2024), the key factor in high import volumes was the upcoming change in the mechanism for calculating the recycling fee. At the same time, the number of imported cars has been growing since June — at the beginning of summer, the volume was half as much (25.8 thousand units). The lowest figure this year was recorded in February (16.2 thousand units).

As previously reported on this day, 3.2% fewer cars were sold in October this year than in the same month of 2024. Belarusian Belgee and Russian Tenet were among the top five brands. The Lada Granta family has once again become the leader of the Russian car market, and the Chinese Haval Jolion crossover has turned out to be the best-selling foreign car in the country.
