The Serbian Prosecutor's office accused Vucic of trying to influence justice.
The Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime (JTOK) has accused the country's president, Aleksandar Vucic, of abuse and abuse of power. This was announced on November 5 in a press release posted on the agency's website.
"The Board of the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime indicates to the public that the President of the republic exceeded and abused his powers and tried to exert improper and illegal influence on this charge by commenting on ongoing criminal investigations," the statement says.
According to the published information, the reason for the accusation was Vucic's statement in an interview with TV Prva on November 3, where he condemned the work of the prosecutor's office. According to the department itself, in this way the Serbian president is attempting to influence the outcome of the cases initiated by the prosecutor's office.
Vucic announced on November 2 that early elections would be held in the country amid protests. It was clarified that discussions about new elections and their dates have been going on for several weeks.
Mass protests took place in the center of Belgrade on the same day. A crowd gathered outside the parliament building, expressing dissatisfaction with the decision of the authorities, who forbade the activist to set up a tent and go on a hunger strike. The next day, Serbian police detained a man who had provoked the riots.
On November 1, Vucic addressed the citizens on the anniversary of the tragedy in Novi Sad. He called on his compatriots to unite and stressed that grief should unite society, and not ignite new conflicts.
In November 2024, 15 people died as a result of the collapse of a canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad. After that, anti-government protests began in Serbia. The protesters blocked bridges and roads. In July 2025, Vucic called on those who took to the streets not to block the city, threatening to use counteraction measures, but since August 2025, street riots have become especially widespread and violent.
