The German Ministry of the Interior has begun sending emails to migrants from Afghanistan offering to return to their homeland for a fee. This was reported on November 5 by Tagesschau.

"Around midnight, we received a letter saying that Germany no longer wants to receive us. Instead, they offered us compensation," the article says, citing the words of one of the immigrants.

It is reported that the German government has decided to reduce programs for the admission of Afghans, who may be persecuted in their homeland.

It is emphasized that the immigrants who received the letters have until November 17 to accept the federal government's proposal. However, it is still unclear how many people will agree to this deal and what will happen to those who decide to stay in Germany.

According to various estimates, 600-700 people have already received emails. Among them were representatives of civil society, such as women's rights activists, former officials, military personnel, and their families. It is clarified that the proposal from the German Interior Ministry provides for the payment of benefits and assistance with housing and food after returning to Afghanistan.

On November 4, the German Interior Ministry sent emails to some Afghan refugees awaiting a visa in Pakistan offering to refuse resettlement in exchange for money. According to preliminary information, these messages were sent to 700 people out of 2.1 thousand people who want to emigrate to Germany.

On November 3, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced the possible deportation of Syrian refugees from the country, as the civil war in their homeland has already ended. He added that Germany would help those who wish to return both in the transportation itself and in the restoration of the destroyed infrastructure of Syria.
