The European Union (EU) has no future in the global system. This opinion was expressed by Austrian geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel in an interview with Izvestia on November 3.

"We can say that the European Union does not have a great future in the global system. We see that development in other parts of the world is going better than ours," said Poppel.

According to him, the EU's perspective for the next 10-20 years is mass migration, economic decline, the constant creation of new conflicts and the unresolved problem of energy supply. In addition, the analyst stressed that the unconditional support of Ukraine from the European Union has led to the fact that the association is financially exhausted, as well as losing its ability to act.

"I think the biggest problem facing the European Union is that it is currently in a standoff with the East. At the moment, he's against Russia, he's also against China, as well as against everyone else who doesn't "fit in" to some extent, Poppel said.

He also added that with the EU's desire to expand, a large number of internal problems have accumulated within it. In addition, Poppel called on the EU to mind its own business and development.

On October 26, Poppel noted that Western countries would not be able to isolate Russia with sanctions, much less defeat a nuclear power in direct confrontation. He added that Russia consistently defends its security, while in Europe there are increasingly sentiments that contribute to the escalation of the conflict. In addition, the analyst expressed the hope that world leaders would keep their cool and take into account the real consequences of further actions.
