A police officer was injured during clashes at a protest outside the parliament building in Belgrade, the press service of the Serbian Interior Ministry reported on November 2.

According to the agency, a group of participants in an "unannounced rally" on Knyaz Milos Street attacked citizens who attended a registered meeting in Pioneer Park. The protesters threw various objects and pyrotechnics at people, after which one of the tents caught fire.

"The situation seriously jeopardized the safety of citizens and could lead to serious consequences," the Interior Ministry said, noting that the police promptly intervened and prevented further escalation. However, one of the employees suffered a leg injury during the crackdown.

In the evening of this day, a crowd of thousands of demonstrators gathered in the center of Belgrade, expressing dissatisfaction with the authorities' ban on setting up tents and declaring a hunger strike at the Assembly. According to Izvestia correspondent Sergey Petrov, the protest may escalate into a violent confrontation.
