Qatar announced the recognition by Hamas and Israel of the need to observe the truce.
Israel and the Hamas movement recognize that they must observe a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on October 29 by the Prime Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
"Our mission today is to ensure the end of the war and the implementation of the agreements reached in Sharm el-Sheikh," he said during a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. His words are quoted by Al Jazeera TV channel.
The politician also noted that Qatar has made a lot of efforts to conclude an agreement between Hamas and Israel, and stressed that the events in the region are a violation of this agreement. The Qatari Prime Minister added that the country is trying to convince Hamas to disarm.
On the same day, Al Jazeera TV channel reported that the number of victims as a result of strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Gaza Strip on the night of October 29 exceeded 90 people. It was clarified that at least 24 children were among them. After the strikes, the IDF returned to observing the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Prior to that, on October 28, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered new strikes on the Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli leader's office, the Prime Minister made this decision after security consultations.
