In September 2025, Russians spent 409.9 billion rubles on the purchase of new cars. This is the highest result in the last 11 months, since November last year. For the first time during this time, the indicator of the financial capacity of the market has exceeded the mark of 400 billion rubles, the agency "Autostat" reported on October 27.

The September result was 4.3% more than a month earlier, but 13.6% lower than a year ago.

A record figure was recorded in October 2024, but the key reason for the increase in car sales and costs was the entry into force of a new recycling scale, said Nikolai Fomin, Director of Sales at Gazprombank Automotive Leasing. It is expected that in October the amount of funds spent will be higher than in early autumn, due to the activation of buyers for a similar reason.

Analysts said that in September, the share of premium cars in the structure of financial capacity increased. In early autumn, 12 thousand new premium segment cars, including luxury brands, were sold in Russia (15.4% more than in August), which resulted in 98.6 billion rubles spent (+14.3%).

It was also recorded that during the month the cost of buying cars decreased only for Chinese brands. In September, Russians spent 212.6 billion rubles on them, which is 2.1% less than a month earlier.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Russian car market had surpassed the 1 million unit mark by the end of October.
