The Bologna Court of Appeal has decided to extradite Ukrainian citizen Sergei Kuznetsov to Germany, accused of involvement in the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. This was announced on October 27 by his lawyer Nicola Canestrini.

"The defense of former Ukrainian officer Sergei Kuznetsov announces that today the Bologna Court of Appeal has decided to transfer him to Germany in compliance with the European arrest warrant issued by the German Federal Court of Cassation," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to the lawyer, the defense intends to appeal this decision to the Italian Court of Cassation. The lawyer stressed that he would seek full consideration of aspects of international law and issues of respect for fundamental rights in this case.

On September 30, the German Prosecutor General's Office announced the detention in Poland of a Ukrainian citizen who took part in the explosion at Nord Streams. The trained diver was part of a group of individuals who placed explosive devices on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines near Bornholm Island in September 2022. On October 1, a Polish court arrested a Ukrainian diver who is wanted by Germany.
