Andrey Mostovoy — early years

Andrey Mostovoy was born in Omsk on November 5, 1997. But he was not destined to live in Siberia: at the age of four, his family moved to Moscow. Although the parents, who themselves supported the Omsk Avangard, planned to send their son to hockey, life turned out differently. The second cousin of the future athlete found an advertisement in the newspaper for recruitment to the children's football section. Six-year-old Andrey went to the screening, where the competition was successfully held among several hundred other children.

The first school for him was CSKA. However, at the age of 13, Mostovoy had to leave the club — he was much inferior to his peers in height and speed. The academy of Lokomotiv became a new stage in his career. Unlike the "army" coaches, the mentors of the "railwaymen" did not rely on physical data, but on the technique and football intelligence of the young athlete.

The family also supported Andrey in his endeavors. His mother took him to training, and his father, who was engaged in entrepreneurship, did everything to ensure that his son did not need anything. Grandfather Mostovoy also supported his passion for sports — he also played football, albeit not professionally.

Andrey Mostovoy — career

Mostovoy always aspired to get into a top football club, but he began his professional career in the Second League, in Dolgoprudny near Moscow. For the young man, accustomed to the comfort of the capital and the high standards of Lokomotiv, the new conditions became a test: in winter, athletes had to train on an unpaved field. To an eighteen-year-old football player, his teammates seemed like grown-up "uncles," but communicating with older colleagues helped him gain experience quickly. Six months later, Mostovoy left Dolgoprudny to move to a higher level.

In 2016, he became a player for Khimki, where he spent two years. During this time, the midfielder played 87 matches and scored 4 goals. Without waiting for the end of the 2018/2019 season, Mostovoy moved to Zenit-2 St. Petersburg.

From the very beginning, the athlete managed to prove himself — in the first three months in the team, he scored 5 goals in 13 games. After that, the management decided to extend the contract with him for four years. Mostovoy was also promised a place in the main team for next season.

However, the football player's debut in the top division took place as part of the Sochi club, where he was loaned out in early 2019. There, Mostovoy proved himself to be a first-class player: in 26 matches, he scored goals 6 times and scored assists the same number of times.

Before the start of the 2020/2021 season, Mostovoy returned to Zenit, becoming a full-fledged player of the base. For the first time in the blue-white-blue uniform, he took the field on August 7, 2020 in the match for the Russian Super Cup against Moscow Lokomotiv. The athlete was released in the 81st minute to replace Artem Dzyuba. Then Zenit won, and Mostovoy received his first trophy.

In August 2020, on the eve of the League of Nations games with Serbia and Hungary, Mostovoy received his first call-up to the national team. The 2020/2021 season turned out to be one of the most successful for the football player: as a member of Zenit, he became the champion of Russia, making a significant contribution to this success — 6 goals scored.

The new head coach of the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, also called Mostovoy for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The footballer scored his first goal for the national team in the game against Cyprus, where the Russians won a crushing victory with a score of 6:0.

Andrey Mostovoy — attempted abduction

In the fall of 2025, an attempted abduction of Andrei Mostovoy took place in St. Petersburg. This was announced on October 27 by a source of Izvestia. Unknown assailants grabbed the football player and tried to push him into a car. The athlete managed to resist, and a bystander helped him fight off the intruders.

Two days later, criminals abducted the son-in-law of State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Makarov at the same place. The criminals followed the same scenario, but this time they managed to get their victim into the car. After that, they started extorting money, threatening violence. A mobile phone was taken from the abducted man and a ransom of 10 million rubles was demanded.

Criminal cases have been opened into both incidents. Soon, investigators tracked down the suspects, and four people were detained. According to them, the organizer of the crime was a certain Slava Satanist, who contacted them through the Telegram messenger.

"A man offered me a job. Earn money for athletes. <...> I was contacted by Slava, he offered me a job. <...> I do not know who it is. I have never heard voices <...>, we communicated through the Telegram messenger," one of the detainees said during the interrogation.

Another attacker confirmed that the target was extortion. The plan was to force the victim to transfer money from bank accounts and wallets with cryptocurrency using the details sent to Telegram. The third suspect stated that the incident was not a kidnapping, but a "staged detention", which they organized on the instructions of the same famous Satanist.
