In February of this year, Danila Vedernikov scandalously left the Pari Nizhny Novgorod RPL team due to a conflict with the club's sports director Alexander Udaltsov and his deputy Vladimir Rykov. When leaving the team, he left his cleats in the locker room, on which he wrote insults against both functionaries. This photo appeared on social media. Then the 24-year-old midfielder played in the first league for Chaika from the Rostov region and in the second league for FC Astrakhan. In the summer, he returned to the RPL, ending up in Orenburg. His team is fighting for survival in the RPL. After 13 rounds, she is in 14th place in the transition zone, just two points ahead of the relegation zone, while Pari Nizhny Novgorod, which is 15th, has a match in reserve.

In an interview with Izvestia, Vedernikov shared his opinion on the reasons for Saturday's away defeat by Spartak Moscow (0:1), told what changed after the change of head coach (Ildar Akhmetzyanov took over the post instead of Vladimir Slishkovich), and also assessed the chances of escaping relegation and told whether it was important for him to win the fight for survival. at Pari NN.

— What was missing in the match against Spartak to achieve at least a draw?

— A goal scored.

— Why couldn't it be scored?

— Because it turned out to be a closed game. Spartak also had a few shots — in the first half, not a single one hit our goal. But their team is more skilled, and they still managed to score one goal. I think we played well today, but Spartak's class took its toll.

— How has Orenburg changed after the change of head coach?

— The game scheme has become different. Before that, we played five defenders, now we play four. The new coach gives us attacking football, but also requires us not to forget about defense, to keep a balance.

— Have your functions changed in any way?

"Nothing." I've been playing offense and defense, and I'm still doing it. It is clear that there are certain nuances, but in principle everything is the same for me.

— Does the quality of the game in two matches under Akhmetzyanov give reason for optimism in terms of the fight for survival?

- of course. I'm sure we'll get out.

— Will you stay in the RPL through transitional matches or without them?

— Without.

— At the expense of what?

— At the expense of the team, the coach, the whole club. We have a very warm atmosphere inside. I have no doubt that we will get out of the current tournament situation.

— In this struggle for survival, do you have a fundamental confrontation with Pari Nizhny Novgorod? Do you want to prove that you deserve to play in the RPL, and its leaders did not deserve to work in it?

— Who should I prove it to? You just need to be yourself. There are no confrontations. Everything that happened with Nizhny Novgorod has already been left behind for me. Now I have a new stage. There is not even a thought of any fundamental confrontation. Every match is important for me. Not only with Paris NN.

— When you started playing for Orenburg, did you have any thoughts of proving anything to Udaltsov and Rykov?

— And why?

— After all, the departure from Paris NN was quite scandalous. You didn't just leave those cleats in the locker room.

— I repeat: all this is behind us. I'm not interested in anything that concerns these people. I'm responsible for myself. I have a new stage. I'm only looking forward. All thoughts are only around Orenburg.

— Do you know the fate of those boots?

— I don't know. Honestly, it's not interesting.

— Considering that you soon lost your job at Chaika after Paris NN, how did you manage to get a job at Orenburg in the summer and return to the RPL?

— I had a viewing in Orenburg during one training camp. At that time, it was not yet clear whether the team would be in the RPL or the first league. If I hadn't proved my worth, I probably wouldn't be here right now. But I did everything to prove myself. And thanks to the club, the previous head coach Vladimir Slishkovich, for believing in me and leaving me at Orenburg.

— You have a match ahead of you with a competitor in the fight for survival, Sochi, and then a trip to the leader of the championship, Lokomotiv, which has not yet suffered a single defeat. How are you going to score points in these meetings?

— In our case, we just have to go to each match as the last one. Then we will handle our situation. There is no other choice at all. And it can't be.
