Film director Nikita Mikhalkov knew how to educate with the help of cinema. On October 21, his nephew, director Egor Konchalovsky, shared with Izvestia his childhood memories of Mikhalkov and told how his example influenced his future life.

"It seems to me that in our family the concept of pampered is somehow absent, because I remember Nikita very well and a lot as a child. But it's always been about his job. Everyone is immersed in their work. And it was during my childhood and adolescence that Nikita filmed incredibly intensively," he said.

According to Konchalovsky, the presence of Mikhalkov's friends and colleagues greatly influenced his choice of profession.

"The presence of his friends, his colleagues, Sasha Adamovich, Eduard Artemyev, Oleg Tabakov, Yura Bogatyrev, Lucy Gurchenko. What can I say, there are dozens of them. It was like an educational job. <...>..> That's probably why we were all drawn into this industry, into this kind of art. I'm an art historian by training, but I ended up making movies anyway," Konchalovsky added.

People's Artist of the RSFSR, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, film director Nikita Sergeevich Mikhalkov celebrates his 80th birthday on October 21. On the eve of the anniversary, he was awarded the medal of the State Duma for his great contribution to the development of culture, active citizenship and many years of conscientious work, said Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
