Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba resigned along with the government. This was reported on October 21 by the Japanese Kyodo news agency.

"Ishiba's cabinet of Ministers is resigning en masse ahead of a parliamentary vote to elect the next prime minister of Japan," the material says.

The agency also writes, citing an informed source, that Satsuki Katayama, a member of parliament from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), may become the next minister of finance of Japan if LDP leader Sanae Takaichi is elected prime minister of the country. Takaichi is expected to become Japan's first female head of government.

On October 4, Takaichi was elected the new chairman of the ruling party of Japan and the potential next prime minister of the country. So, in the second round, she won 185 votes, including 149 votes from members of parliament.

On September 7, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba decided to resign from his post. It was clarified that Isiba faced great pressure from the Liberal Democratic Party (DLP), which he led. He noted that he would like the process of choosing a new party leader to begin as soon as possible.
