The number of car dealerships has decreased in Russia

The number of dealerships in Russia in the first nine months of 2025 decreased by 125, to 4,036 units. This was reported on October 20 by TASS with reference to a joint study by Gazprombank Avtolizing and Avtobusinessreview

According to the study, 513 new car dealerships were opened in Russia in three quarters, while 638 were closed. The most active reformatting process is noted in the Chinese segment. The number of auto brand salons from China decreased to 2.6 thousand: 491 closures accounted for 403 openings.

Dealers invest more in those brands that have only recently gained official status in Russia (Li Auto, Avatr and Rox) or those that provide stable earnings and have free franchises (Haval Pro, Changan, Chery and Foton), the study notes.

The Russian brand Solaris became the leader in the number of new dealership openings in three quarters, with the number of showrooms growing by 54 to 130 units. The second and third places are occupied by the brands KGM (+43) and Li Auto (+35).

The Chery brand remains the leader in network size among the "Chinese" (216 salons). It is bordered by Geely (212 dealerships) and Changan (196).

Earlier, the Autostat agency reported that during the period from October 1 to October 15 of this year, prices for new cars changed for 12 brands officially represented on the Russian market. 10 of them have recorded an increase in the price of individual models. It affected Haval Jolion and M6, Soueast S07 and S09 (built in 2024), various modifications of Sollers Argo, as well as Moskvich 3, Ambertruck Work, KGM Korando, BAIC BJ60, Omoda C5 (built in 2024), GAC GS4 and Jaecoo J8.
