In Tbilisi, 14 protesters were detained on Rustaveli Avenue because they artificially blocked the roadway and obstructed traffic. This was announced on October 19 by the Bm portal.ge with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

"According to the Interior Ministry, 27 offenders were identified during the protest, 14 of them were detained, and administrative proceedings are underway against 13. <...> The participants of the rally gathered on Rustaveli Avenue, <...>.. The roadway was artificially blocked and traffic was impeded," the publication says.

It is noted that by such actions, the protesters violated the law of Georgia "On Assemblies and Demonstrators."

"The protesters disobeyed the police and continued to act illegally. In addition, some of the demonstrators had masked faces, which is also a violation of the law," the portal added.

According to the portal, journalist Vakho Sanai was among the detainees.

Protests against the ruling Georgian Dream party began in Tbilisi on October 4 against the backdrop of the country's parliamentary elections. Correspondent Giorgi Jabishvili, who covered the protesters' march, noted that not only Georgian national flags could be seen in the crowd, but also American flags. The protesters broke the fence near the presidential palace.
