336,000 people signed a contract to serve in the Armed Forces of Russia in 2025, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said on October 17 during a working trip to the Southern Federal District.

"In total, 336,000 people have arrived at our military units, who have signed a contract this year, as well as 28,000 volunteers. These are the current figures for today," Medvedev said, and a video recording of his speech was posted on his VKontakte page.

According to the deputy head of the Russian Security Council, to replenish the number of military personnel, "every region, every subject of the Federation, every selection point makes its contribution here."

"This work cannot be overestimated. I wish you success in the future," Medvedev said, visiting one of the military commissariats in the Astrakhan region.

In July, Medvedev noted that in the first half of 2025, over 210 thousand contract soldiers joined the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, more than 18,000 people have joined the volunteer units of the Russian Army since the beginning of the year.

On May 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that at least 50,000 volunteers come to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation every month. He also noted that, unlike Russia, the authorities in Ukraine are engaged in forced mobilization.
