This year, a record number of contestants will take part in the All-Russian competition "This is our family". This was announced on October 14 by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.

"Last year, we were very happy that we had a record—breaking competition of the presidential platform "Russia - the land of opportunities", we had 587 thousand people. This year we have 726 thousand. [participants]. That is, the competition <...> is now breaking its own records," he stressed at a meeting of the competition's supervisory board.

Kiriyenko noted that such statistics of participants demonstrate the attitude of Russians to family values, and also shows the friendship and cohesion of families. According to him, many participants are trying their hand at "This is our family thing" for the second time.

The deputy Head of the Presidential Administration also pointed out several unusual families who have registered for the competition. So, the Boldarev family from the Tambov region, including children who have created their own families, has about 30 people. Also among the participants is the Olkhovsky family from Transbaikalia with the largest number of children among the contestants — 28 children, 25 of them are adopted. In addition, the oldest participant in the competition was a resident of Nizhny Tagil, who turned 100 this year.

"Such participation of people, of course, suggests that the very opportunity to spend time with the whole family [is the main goal of the competition]. What is the main motivation? Of course, the motivation is that the competition <...> creates conditions and rules. <...> You will postpone all your work, because the family team motivates you," Kiriyenko emphasized.

He also noted that during the competition, many participants discover new facts about their family.

In conclusion, Kiriyenko suggested that the supervisory board allow 1,523 families to enter the full-time stage of the competition instead of the established 1,500, since the organizers "cannot cut off" teams that do not meet the limit. The decision was supported unanimously.

On July 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government and the Popular Front For Russia movement to submit proposals by November 1 to define a single standard of state support for large families. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the head of the Executive Committee of the Popular Front, Mikhail Kuznetsov, were appointed responsible for the implementation.
