- The media learned about Qatar's plans to build a military air station at the US base in Idaho.
The United States will allow Qatar to build a military air station at an American military base in Idaho. This was reported on October 10 by the Axios portal, citing sources.
"The United States and Qatar have jointly announced that Qatar will build an Air Force facility at Mountain Home Air Base in Idaho to house its F-15 fighter jets and train pilots," the material says.
It is noted that this was another signal of strengthening relations between the two countries.
A source familiar with the terms of the agreement told Axios that the facility being built by Qatar will be located on the territory of an American air base and will be under the jurisdiction of the United States. The deal has been under development for several years, and its discussion began during the administration of former US President Joe Biden.
"The deal announced by [Pentagon Chief Pete] Hegseth is unusual in that Qatar will build a new Air Force facility from scratch," the publication clarifies.
According to Axios, Qatar has restrictions on pilot training, mainly due to the flat desert terrain. The desire to train pilots in different landscapes and weather conditions led to talks about a site in the USA.
On September 21, US President Donald Trump said he expected Afghanistan to transfer the Bagram airbase to the control of the United States. He noted that Washington wants to return her as soon as possible, literally immediately. In addition, the American leader threatened consequences if Afghanistan refused to comply with the demands of the United States.
On the same day, the Afghan authorities called on Washington not to repeat "past unsuccessful approaches" and to show rationality in their actions, without threatening to use force against the territorial integrity of another country. Kabul recalled the Doha agreement between the Taliban and the United States. According to the document, Washington pledged "not to use or threaten the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Afghanistan, as well as not to interfere in its internal affairs."
