Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are preparing plans for the mass evacuation of citizens in the event of an alleged possible "attack" by Russia on the Baltic States. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on October 10.

"Alarmed by Russia's huge military expenditures, <...> the three Baltic states are developing contingency plans to take into account the possibility of hundreds of thousands of people being displaced in the event of a Russian troop build—up," the statement said.

The publication also notes that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have long expressed concern to other NATO countries about the alleged possible "Russian aggression."

However, the article clarifies that the Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that they do not plan to "attack" Europe.

Earlier, on September 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that NATO and the European Union (EU) continue to whip up hysteria around Russia's alleged plans to attack Europe. According to him, any sane person is aware that the Russian Federation has no desire to ever attack anyone.

On September 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia had no intention of attacking NATO and the EU. The minister also noted that there should be no doubt in NATO and the EU that any aggression against Russia will be resolutely rebuffed.
