In September, 643 new trucks with a gross weight of over 3.5 tons were imported to Russia. This is 20 times less than in September last year (12.6 thousand units), Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said on October 10 in his Telegram channel.

The total volume of truck imports from January to September was less than 5,000 units. Over the same period last year, more than 61,000 trucks were imported (-92%). For comparison, by the end of 2023, almost 110 thousand new trucks were imported to Russia, and in 2024 - 76 thousand units. 95% of this volume came to the country from China.

"It can be stated that the import of MCVs and HCVs has almost disappeared this year. The main reasons are a significant drop in the car market (-55%), huge inventories and the suspension of the OTS for some models of Chinese equipment," said Tselikov.

In addition, according to the analyst, leasing companies have accumulated a lot of fresh trucks with mileage, which are returned by customers. These drains are an alternative to buying new trucks.

The day before, it was reported that in January – September of this year, 32.9 thousand new large—tonnage trucks (HCVs with a gross weight of more than 16 tons) were sold in Russia, which is 57.4% less than in the same period last year. The market for new heavy trucks has been steadily declining since November last year, and by May it had reached a minimum value (2.7 thousand units).

Prior to that, on October 7, a new version of the popular low-tonnage off-road vehicle "Sable NN 4x4" was presented at the International Gas Forum in St. Petersburg. The car is equipped with a bi-fuel engine that can run on gasoline or compressed natural gas.
