- The mayor of Tbilisi spoke about the West's proposal to start a conflict with Russia in 2022
After the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine in 2022, the ambassador of one of the Western countries suggested that Georgia enter into a confrontation with the Russian Federation. This was announced on October 9 by Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, Mayor of Tbilisi, in an interview with Imedi TV channel.
"The ambassador of one of the countries (of the West. — Ed.), who is meeting with the country's prime minister (at that time, the post was held by Irakli Garibashvili. — Ed.) and says: "You will start (a conflict. — Ed.), you will be provided with military equipment," he said.
According to Kaladze, Georgia needed to "hold out" for 10 days, after which, as implied, the conflict would have turned into a state of guerrilla warfare. The mayor of Tbilisi did not disclose information about the ambassador of which of the Western countries put forward this proposal.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a press conference on October 8 that Western statements about Georgia continued to be propaganda by Nazi German Minister Joseph Goebbels. The head of the Georgian government stressed that the return of this kind of propaganda to Europe 80 years later is unacceptable.
