The statement by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel that Poland and the Baltic states provoked the launch of a special military operation by Russia is a recognition of the failure of Western policy. This was announced on October 9 by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the international organizations in Vienna.

"It seems that Angela Merkel has admitted that the West's policy towards Russia in 2021-2025 was an obvious failure," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

He added that it was time to identify those responsible for this strategic failure, namely, according to the former German Chancellor, Poland and the Baltic states.
