In January-August 2025, the Russian carsharing market grew by 16% year-on-year and amounted to 46.76 billion rubles. This was reported on October 8 by Kommersant with reference to Rosstat data.

During this period, consumers in Moscow spent 45.5 billion rubles on short-term car rental services, an increase of 17% year-on-year. In the Moscow region, the figure increased by 6% and amounted to 107.5 million rubles.

It is noted that a similar trend is observed in the entire car rental market, including long-term rental. The capacity of the industry as a whole increased by 16% year-on-year, to 59 billion rubles.

The growth of the car-sharing market is due to the fact that car ownership in an urban environment is losing its attractiveness due to high operating costs, such as parking fees and car maintenance, experts interviewed by the publication explained. The geography of service availability has also increased. According to T-Bank's calculations, the number of carsharing drivers in Russia has grown from 1.2% of the population in 2022 to 2.5–3% by 2025.

In January—August 2025, the average cost of renting and sharing cars across the country increased by 11% year-on-year, to 722 rubles, calculated in the "Check Index". During this period, the number of checks in the capital decreased by 1% year-on-year, in St. Petersburg it increased by 3%, and in the Russian Federation as a whole it increased by 4%.

Earlier, on September 23, it was reported that in the summer of 2025, a new trend was observed in carsharing — Russians switched from spontaneous trips to conscious planning. They plan routes in advance, book cars a few days in advance, and more often choose long trips around the country.

Prior to that, on September 10, Citydrive told Izvestia that the number of items left in carsharing cars varies from 250 to 300 units per month. These are usually documents, keys, headphones, and hats, but there are also unusual items. This year, users, among other things, forgot the orange cash register, the remote control from the barrier, ski poles and even the window sill in their cars.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
