The average price of a used car in Russia dropped below 1.4 million rubles

The average price of a used passenger car in Russia has dropped below 1.4 million rubles for the first time in a long time. This was reported on October 8 by the analytical agency Autostat.

So, by the end of September 2025, the average price of a used car in the Russian Federation was 1 million 396 thousand rubles. It is noted that this figure has been above 1.4 million rubles over the past 13 months.

The September result was 5.4% less than a year ago and 2.2% lower than a month ago. As the analysts explained, the decrease in prices for used cars is largely due to an increase in their supply (the number of ads for sale).

For the first time, the average price of a car in the secondary market exceeded the threshold of 1.5 million rubles in September 2023. In December of the same year, it was above 1.6 million rubles.

The day before, it was reported that in the third quarter of 2025, the average price of a new car in Russia decreased by 3% compared to January –March and amounted to 2.83 million rubles. Experts noted that the prerequisites for a smooth increase in demand were a moderate reduction in the key rate, as well as discounts and special offers from dealers who sell off the accumulated remnants of last year.

Prior to that, on October 2, it was reported that the average price for popular used cars in the third quarter of 2025 was 5.1% lower than in the first quarter, and amounted to 750 thousand rubles.
