Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro signed a decree on the entry into force of the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Russia on Vladimir Putin's birthday. This was announced on October 7 by the VTV channel.

"Starting today, this law will come into force as the law of the Republic. I am very grateful to the National Assembly, which accelerated its consideration and discussion. Here he is, next to me, today, on President Putin's birthday," the Venezuelan president said during a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Caracas Sergey Melik-Baghdasarov.

He also stressed the importance of this legal document, which sets a roadmap for bilateral cooperation for the next decade.

On September 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with Ivan Hill, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, stated the categorical inadmissibility of using instruments of forceful pressure on sovereign states as an instrument of foreign policy.
