Resolving the conflict in Ukraine may be more difficult than in the hot spots in the Middle East. This was announced on October 7 by US President Donald Trump during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the White House.

"I thought it would be one of the easy deals. But it turned out that this issue is probably more complicated than the situation in the Middle East," the American leader said.

According to him, the United States is already close to concluding an agreement on the Middle East, which should bring peace to the region after the deaths of millions and tens of millions of people.

"There is a chance to establish peace in the Middle East. In addition to that, I made seven more deals, and they were, you know, great. There is a process underway with respect to Russia and Ukraine," Trump said.

A day earlier, Trump announced that he had actually made a decision on the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, but did not explain what it was. The US president clarified that he would like to know the purpose of using missiles, and that he would not like to see an escalation in the Ukrainian conflict.

Thomas Graham, an employee of the American Council on Foreign Relations and former assistant to the President of the United States, said on October 4 that the conflict in Ukraine could not be resolved by signing a single agreement, as it was a matter of ensuring the security of the whole of Europe. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Izvestia on October 2 that Russia was continuing its negotiations, but remained open to negotiations and supported President Trump's efforts.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
