Japan currently cannot pose a threat to the United States, but the country is trying to create a new security system. Viktor Kuzminkov, a senior researcher at the Center for Japanese Studies at the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told about this on Tuesday, October 7.

"The Japanese are just now worried that the United States is pursuing a self—centered policy and forcing its allies to arm themselves," Kuzminkov said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to the expert, the Japanese also fear that in the event of a conflict in Taiwan, the United States will force them to enter into a confrontation.

"Japan is now actively searching for a model of the security system that would involve not only relying on the United States, because previously they relied solely on the United States. <...> Now there are more and more voices that we need to look for other partners. Therefore, there is a rapprochement with the countries of Southeast Asia," Kuzminkov said.

He added that Japan is trying to create a new security system, as it has lost confidence in the performance of the existing one.

Earlier, the Chinese media portal Sohu reported that Japan has become the main threat to the United States militarily and economically, RT reports.

It is noted that for many years, being under the auspices of the United States, Japan has been actively building up its military potential, and as a result, the country's maritime self-defense forces have significantly expanded their capabilities, going beyond the exclusively defensive role, according to the website. kp.ru .

In addition, Japan has proved to be one of the leaders in many areas. In particular, we are talking about the production of chips and semiconductors, IA Regnum reports.

Bloomberg reported on September 5 that the United States has ceased to be the hegemons in the Asia-Pacific region (APR). According to the newspaper, this opinion was formed after Australia and Japan agreed to strengthen military and economic ties.
