- Slovakia will transfer mine clearance equipment to Ukraine for the first time under the Fico
The Slovak authorities have decided to provide Ukraine with mine clearance equipment, while military weapons will not be provided to the country. This was announced on October 7 by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Slovakia Matusz Shutay-Estok.
This humanitarian aid package will be the first since the end of 2023, which was approved by the Government of Prime Minister Robert Fico. However, the Government's position on military supplies has not changed.
"We will not send any weapons to Ukraine," the Interior Minister stressed at a press conference. The recording was posted on the YouTube channel of his party "Course — Social Democracy".
At the same time, a day earlier, the Minister of Defense of the republic, Robert Kalinyak, announced that Bratislava intends to transfer the 14th package of military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which will consist in providing engineering support and mine protection technologies to Ukrainian units. Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal indicated in his Telegram channel that Slovakia, as part of the agreement, would also transfer Bozena vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
