The decision on the hypothetical transfer of the Bagram airbase should be made by Kabul, Moscow does not know about Afghanistan's readiness to receive Americans at this military facility again. This was announced on October 7 by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.

"First of all, this decision should be made by the Afghan authorities, who have full sovereignty on their territory," Rudenko said in an interview with TASS.

He added that as far as he knows, Afghanistan has not recently made statements about its readiness to host the United States at this base.

On September 21, US President Donald Trump announced that he expects Afghanistan to transfer the Bagram airbase under the control of the United States. He noted that Washington wants to return her as soon as possible, literally immediately. In addition, the American leader threatened consequences if Afghanistan refused to comply with the demands of the United States.

On the same day, the Afghan authorities called on Washington not to repeat "past unsuccessful approaches" and to show rationality in their actions, without threatening to use force against the territorial integrity of another country. Kabul recalled the Doha agreement between the Taliban and the United States. According to the document, Washington pledged "not to use or threaten the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Afghanistan, as well as not to interfere in its internal affairs."
