The political scientist appreciated the new attempt to organize the Maidan in Georgia
The Georgian ruling party becomes stronger after each coup attempt. This was stated by Russian Caucasian expert Artur Ataev in an interview with Izvestia.
"The Georgian authorities are surviving in difficult conditions, gaining more and more political power. I note that there are quite a lot of young cadres in the party, and the leadership is circulating. In general, the Georgian Dream has repeatedly proved that it is the wealthiest and most organized political force in the country," he argues.
Ataev adds that Tbilisi's relations with Western elites may begin to warm up. According to him, Brussels may become disillusioned with Saakashvili's supporters, and in the near future, they will probably begin to establish contacts with the current authorities, who have proven their stability and efficiency.
General local elections were held in Georgia on October 4. The ruling Georgian Dream party won in all municipalities. After the vote, a protest rally was held in Tbilisi, including participants who tried to occupy the presidential palace. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze accused foreign intelligence agencies of organizing the rallies.
