In September of this year, Toyota topped the sales ranking of new passenger cars, excluding Chinese, Russian and Belarusian brands. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on October 6.

In early autumn, 3,308 new Toyota vehicles were sold in Russia (+49%), while BMW (1,741 units; +51%) and Hyundai (1,228 units; -38%) completed the top three. This was followed by Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Mazda, Skoda, Volkswagen, Lexus and KGM (SsangYong).

In September, the share of sales of new passenger cars of global brands (excluding brands from China, Russia and Belarus) increased to 11.6%, while in the first half of the year the figure was 6-8%. The total volume of this market segment in September was 14.2 thousand units, which is 18% more than in August and 16% more than in September 2024. At the same time, the car market as a whole decreased by 19% compared to last year.

"Due to the upcoming increase in recycling, in October we should expect further growth of non-Chinese foreign cars, mainly provided by alternative imports. But since November, they promise to block this "stream"," said Tselikov.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that in September 2025, the average cost of a new domestic car increased by 71 thousand rubles (+4.5% compared to August), reaching 1.66 million rubles. The last time it was at this level was exactly two years ago, in September 2023.

Prior to that, on September 22, it became known that in eight months this year, 70.8 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia under alternative import schemes. This is 40% less than in January – August of last year.
