Kim Jong-un demanded accelerated development of the DPRK Naval forces

North Korean leader Kim Jong‑un demanded the accelerated development of the country's Naval Forces and stressed their key role in protecting sovereignty. Speaking during a visit to the Choi Hyun Navy destroyer and the grand opening of the National Defense Development 2025 exhibition, he instructed to strengthen combat training and military–technical equipment of the fleet, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on October 6.

According to Kim Jong-un, the new "super-powerful warship" has become a clear evidence of the strengthening of the armed forces and successes in shipbuilding under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The Head of State inspected the destroyer's armament and left instructions on how to prepare the crew and marines for the ship's operation. Kim Jong-un emphasized the need to use the power of the Navy "in the name of national sovereignty, security and interests" and to deter and punish possible provocations by the enemy.

"In the name of national sovereignty and security, the mighty might of our Navy must be deployed in the vast ocean so that we can thoroughly deter enemy provocations, respond to them and punish them," the agency quoted him as saying.
