On October 4, the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kash Patel, called Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro a "drug dealer-dictator" and announced a reward of $50 million for his capture.

"Maduro is not just corrupt, he is an accused narco-terrorist dictator. America will never be a safe haven for his blood money," Patel wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Earlier, on October 3, it was reported that the US Armed Forces were ready for a possible operation in Venezuela as part of the fight against drug trafficking. According to The Washington Examiner, naval and air forces have been prepared for the deployment of the operation, including Navy ships, F-35 fighter jets, Harrier jets and Marine Corps units. Control of key ports and airfields will allow the United States to increase and maintain a permanent military presence in the country.
