- The final day of voting in the parliamentary elections has begun in the Czech Republic.
The final day of voting in the election of the new composition of the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of Parliament is taking place in the Czech Republic. This was reported on October 4 by the CTK news agency.
"Polling stations in the Czech Republic reopened today after a night break at 08:00 (09:00 Moscow time. — Ed.) so that people can finish voting on the future composition of the Chamber of Deputies," the publication says.
According to the Constitution of the Republic, voting takes place in two days. The second day of voting will last until 14:00 (15:00 Moscow time). After that, election commissions will begin counting ballots and other data, such as turnout and preference votes.
The Guardian newspaper reported on October 3 that the European Union expresses concern about the possible victory of the Czech party of former Prime Minister Andrei Babis "Action of Dissatisfied Citizens" (ANO) in the elections, fearing that his return to power could further worsen the situation with support for Ukraine.
Prior to that, on August 9, the Neue Zürcher Zeitun reported that Ukraine may soon lose the Czech Republic as an ally in the European Union, since, according to polls, Babis is leading in the elections — an opponent of military aid to Ukraine, a supporter of negotiations with Russia and the cessation of arms supplies.
