- Germany announced its intention to cooperate with Ukraine and Israel in the field of protection against UAVs
Germany plans to expand cooperation with Ukraine and Israel in the field of protection against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported on October 3 by Central German Radio (MDR), citing a statement by the country's Interior Minister, Alexander Dobrindt.
"According to Dobrindt, Germany will expand cooperation with Ukraine and Israel in the field of protection against drones," the publication says.
The politician also said that a special unit will be created in the German police, whose tasks will include exclusively combating drones.
At the same time, the official previously stated that the law on police will be revised in Germany next week, and a legal framework for combating drones will be created.
On the evening of October 2, Munich Airport was temporarily closed due to unidentified UAVs in the air. As a result of the incident, about 20 scheduled flights were canceled.
On September 29, it was reported that Markus Zeder, Prime Minister of Bavaria and leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU), wants to expand the powers of the federal state police in the fight against drones, including giving the police the authority to destroy them in the air. According to him, in the face of the growing threat from drones, "we need not a position of delay, but a position of strength."
