In addition to the 7.5-year prison sentence, the court banned Marina Tauber, executive secretary of the executive committee of the Pobeda opposition bloc, from engaging in government and public activities. She announced this on September 30.

According to her lawyer, Sergei Moraru, this decision will be challenged in court. It is specified that Tauber herself was not present at the meeting. At the same time, she posted a video on her Telegram channel before him, in which she expressed hope for a fair verdict, but the whole case is "sewn with white threads." Tauber stressed that the process is exclusively political in nature, and is part of an attack on the opposition ordered by the Moldovan authorities.

"Today's verdict is not about me personally. This is a verdict on the whole Moldovan politics, where honesty, openness and work for people are declared a crime," she said.

Earlier that day, a court in Chisinau sentenced Tauber in the case of alleged financing of the Shor party, sentencing her to seven years and six months in a semi-closed prison. Subsequently, her lawyer said that Tauber's sentence would be challenged in a higher court.

Ilan Shor, the leader of the Victory bloc, called Tauber's court sentence a personal revenge on the part of Moldovan President Maia Sandu. He considers her a bright politician who has done a lot to improve the lives of Moldovans.
