In Tatarstan, the number of centenarians has increased over the past two years. Thus, 294 centenarians aged 100 years and older live in the republic. This was announced on September 30 by the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of Tatarstan, Elmira Zaripova.

There are 261 women and 33 men among the centenarians of the republic. The oldest man is 105 years old, and the woman is 108 years old.

"The increase in the proportion of elderly people is explained by the demographic situation both in the country as a whole and in the republic. Just two years ago, there were 211 people who crossed the centenary line," she is quoted as saying on the website of the government of Tatarstan.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced on September 29 that a person has the opportunity to live up to 120 years. At the same time, she noted that each person has a different potential. Golikova also called increasing life expectancy a national goal.
