Qatar told about Netanyahu's acceptance of Trump's plan for a settlement in Gaza
US President Donald Trump has notified the Qatari authorities that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted a plan for a peaceful settlement in the Gaza Strip. This was stated on September 30 by the official representative of the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari, at a press conference in Doha.
"The US President informed us that the Israeli Prime Minister has accepted his plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip. <...> We also welcome the US president's plan, as our main goal is to end the war," TASS quoted him as saying.
The representative of the ministry also drew attention to the fact that the Qatari and Egyptian mediators conveyed Washington's proposal to the Palestinian Hamas movement, which was previously reported unofficially.
Earlier, on September 29, the White House said that the leaders of the United States, Israel and Qatar had agreed during telephone talks to create a mechanism to resolve differences. Netanyahu also promised Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abderrahman Al Thani not to attack Doha or violate Qatar's sovereignty.
On the same day, the White House released Trump's full-fledged plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. It consists of 20 items. According to him, Israel will withdraw troops from Gaza and freeze military operations in the region in exchange for the release of hostages. In addition, Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza.
Netanyahu said that Israel would "finish the job on its own" in the conflict in the Gaza Strip if the radical Palestinian movement Hamas expressed any disagreement with Trump's plan.
On September 30, a number of Arab and Islamic states, including Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, expressed support for Trump's peace plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
