The WSJ has learned about Israel's influence on Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip
Israel participated in the creation of US President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip, and among other things made a number of changes to it. This was reported on September 29 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
"Israel helped shape Trump's plan and insisted on making a number of amendments, which were included in the final version," the publication says.
It is noted that the plan does not exclude the creation of an independent Palestinian state. At the same time, the document does not mention the creation of two states in the region as a possible solution.
It is reported that the radical Palestinian movement Hamas has not yet agreed to the plan.
During a joint press conference on September 29, Trump said he was counting on a positive response from the Palestinian Hamas movement to his initiative. If the movement refuses to implement the proposed plan, the American president promised to support Israel. In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly agreed with Trump's proposal.
On the same day, the White House presented a plan to resolve the situation in Gaza. The 20-point document provides for the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the cessation of hostilities in exchange for the release of hostages. 72 hours are allowed for the implementation of these conditions after the approval of the agreement. A number of Arab and Islamic States, including Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, expressed their support for the peace plan in a joint statement.
