CSU leader Zeder suggested that the Bavarian police shoot down unidentified drones
Markus Zeder, Prime Minister of Bavaria and leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU), wants to expand the powers of the federal state police in the fight against drones, including giving the police the authority to destroy them in the air. This was reported by Tagesspiegel on September 29.
According to Zeder, in the face of the growing threat from drones and drones, "we need not a position of delay, but a position of strength."
"No one knows if the purpose of launching the drones was espionage or sabotage. And that's why we say: intercept, not wait," he said.
The CSU leader stressed the need to create a Bavarian drone center, which will also be responsible for developing countermeasures.
It is clarified that according to the German Air Traffic Control Service, by the end of August 2025, 144 airport stops were recorded in Germany due to the detection of unidentified drones.
On September 10, the Operational Command of the branches of the Polish Armed Forces (RFA) reported on the defeat of several drones by the Polish military that violated the airspace of the state. Later, Reuters, citing sources in NATO, said that the alliance did not regard the incident with the drone in Poland as an attack.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Poland's baseless accusations against Russia against the background of the drone incident are part of the anti-Russian rhetoric familiar to Europe.
